The indexing of PDF’s at a client was not working. Together with a coworker (tnx Robbert Kloosterman) we fixed it by changing a registry value.
Round up:
1. install PDF iFilter for 64 bit
2. install the icon (easy fix: ttp://www.codeplex.com/SharePointPdfIcon)
3. start – run – regedit
4. go to “\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OfficeServer\12.0\Search\Applications\{site GUID}\Gather\Portal_Content\Extensions\ExtensionList
5. add a new string value (normally on nr.38) with the value PDF
6. go to \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
Server\12.0\Search\Setup\ContentIndexCommon\Filters\Extension\.pdf and change the value to {E8978DA6-047F-4E3D-9C78-CDBE46041603}
7. stop and start the spsearch
8. do a iisreset
9 do a full-crawl
Our problem was we were using another key that was used for 32bit machines.. but we fixed it 🙂
