Office 365 Distilled EP 25: The quarter cask and the cynical MS Teams discussion

Why should I have Teams? We got Yammer, SharePoint, Skype and Outlook in place. This is a question we get ever so often! Steve and Marijn both come from a SharePoint experience, so they are not always up to par with the latest and greatest 🙂
This 25th episode of Office 365 Distilled, a quarter cask in whisky terms, was a cynical discussion to see why we need Teams in our lives.

If you company doesn’t allow GIF’s and Giphys, do you still want to work there? Marijn thinks “you are at work so shut up and do your flipping job”. This is not a playground.

We touch a bit on installing Outlook Web as your email client and to make it look like it is a normal Outlook.

What is the functionality we get with Teams that you don’t have with other tools? Email still works, so why need chat?

1 It is not mail.

Conversations go much more direct. Everyone is directly contacted. Just like in this video that I like so much!

2 Search

Search is a big part of Office 365, and of course Teams is not left out for this!

3 The app

The beauty with Teams is that it is its own app.. that combines so many other tools like Planner, SharePoint documents, conversations, …

It really is the one app to rule them all.

Surface Neo / Duo

We talk a bit on how using 2 screens would be better then just 1 screen. Steve and Marijn are both looking forward to playing around with the Surface Duo.

Whisky: Ancnoc

This scotch Speyside whisky from Aberdeenshire gets you a complex nose with lots of honey. The taste gets you a honey buttery flavor, with a finish of salted butter and apples. Steve gets some popcorn out of it, with some breakfast cereal flavors too. The name comes from the rock in the village. The recipe and way of production hasn’t changed since 1894!

This is a daily drinker for winter time
