Goodbye 2012, what a year it has been !

Wow, what a year this was. On both a personal as professional level this year was probably one of the most important ones of my life.

Next to writing 64 blogposts this year (which is 1.23 per week, including holidays) I also had the joy of speaking on 4 awesome events:

– SharePoint Saturday Belgium: start – to – jQuery

– IT Moov: Enterprise Social Networks

– Sparc Governance Seminar

– SharePoint Saturday UK: Start – to – jQuery

2012 also marked the start of my own business: in April I went live under the name “Balestra” and it has been going pretty fast since then! Awesome projects brought me to cool customers and made me meet very capable people. Thanks to all of you who made this year great!

On a personal level, this year was fantastic. I became a father to the most wonderful and beautiful little girl I have ever seen. Since then it is difficult to schedule my passion and time for tech stuff and for my baby girl. Will have to find a good status quo in 2013.

The most important thing in my life

I also lost 10kg with the 4 hour body (by Tim Ferriss). That way of life is an excellent way to get rid of the excess body mass fast without feeling hungry or having to buy weird powders or tubes. And you don’t need to work out 😉

That last part came in handy, because in september I f*cked up my knee. Apparantly there was a Baker’s cyst in my knee which caused me a great deal of pain. So that means no more fencing for me in 2012 (and probably in 2013 too :(). But that has given me time to find a new sport, golf! It doesn’t hurt my knee so much and I spent a lot of time in the open.

So, good intentions for 2013?

– get rid of another 6kg

– do amazing projects

– speak at minimum 3 conferences

– write better blogposts: more content, better structure, more visual

– do a screencast

– spend a lot of time with my wife and daughter

– have superb holidays!

See you all next year!
