Marijn gives a recap on his travels after Collab Summit and SPS London ( and do some shameless namedropping of Carmen, Matt Taylor,Karoliina, Tomasz, Liz Sundet) and we talk about the SharePoint conference in Las Vegas.

7:05 Our thoughts after Las Vegas

The SharePoint conference in Las Vegas has always about strategy, and Ignite has always about practical implementation. This time, Vegas is not a strategy release, we saw a number of things that were talked about at Ignite.
We see there were some things promised but not out yet.. More on that on a following podcast.

8:00 There are more things that the Teams team is not releasing yet: the calendar feature is something that was supposed to go live in april 2019!
It would be nice to see the Ignite slides and see if they are delivered yet. Maybe they get too focused on the shiny stuff (just like ToDo that is delivering a staggering amount of new features)

We need on SPS events to talk less about our toolkit, but more on how to use these tools for your business and the adoption. Great example is the session that Edyta and Tomasz are doing with their “Flow for Marketing” session!
Liz Sundet also gave a great practical session on “25 real life use cases for Teams”.

11:10 We are increasing the toolkit available to us and not the instructions on how you fit this in to the business.

13:12 Workshop for Roadmap

Steve talks about with the users on what, and they got over a 100 suggestions on how the business would like to use the technology. These are being used as a roadmap for the next 18 months and user stories.

But then the project manager says they don’t have the budget for this. How do you justify the business cases?

19:50 is it still ok to put our training videos in Stream?
Marijn had a question that it is so much work to put training videos in Stream, but you don’t need to polish them. Just create short to the point video’s and leave the ‘errh’ just in there.
This leaves the video’s lean and valuable. It won’t create delays and with the changing nature it will not suck up your budget that much.

24:35 Steve has an equation

4 square graph: axis with people that will be changed and on the bottom the amount of tickets we think we will get when we have a change. This will show how many people will be changed and how many people will be confused.

This will give us: top right change notice, with notifications and things reset. Complex change.
When it affects a lot of people, but isn’t that complex (top left) we have MOC. Because we need the change team to do some communication.
The lower ones are just roll it out. The new button will just appear without much communication.

Don’t be afraid of the changes that come up.

It is a very new concept that is being worked on and that will be friggin’ huge!

We are definitely looking forward to Ignite!

34:30 Whiskey: Connemara

Steve talks about how whisky is made, what peat is and how it came to work for whisky.

This Irish, Killbeggan whiskey is a peated single malt whiskey. It isn’t Islay peated, but more like lightly smoked and clear. It is, unlike most Irish whiskies not triple distilled.

It has a beautiful gold light color, making it look like it is dilluted with water.

On the nose it is light, light peat, with wood tones, hazelnut and green sour apples.
The taste is typical irish smooth and not oily, this is a typical drinkers whisky, perfect for daily use.
The finish with liquorice and honey goes on and on and on…
