For those of you that are following me from closeby know that I am gearing up with some awesome experts to start up a new business, Bloom.report . While looking at our SharePoint online in our freshly created tenant, my eye suddenly got attracted to this sneaky update:
Can you spot it?
In all my other tenants (believe me, I checked!) I am still seeing “Office 365” next to the app launcher, though in our new tenant I can see “Microsoft” standing there.
This is how my other tenants look like, even the ones on first release.
So I went to see what subscriptions we had.. after all, it was a new tenant. Maybe something changed there ?
And oh yes.. look what we have here!!
So it couldn’t be the release.. right ? I contacted my cloud partner and he confirmed me that we had Microsoft 365 licenses instead of Office 365 licenses. Awesomesauce!!!
So what is Microsoft 365? Well, it was recently announced and should be generally available before the end of the year.
As Microsoft explains:
Microsoft 365 Business brings together features from across Microsoft’s offerings in a solution designed for small and medium-sized businesses. It’s powered by Office 365 and Windows 10, with device management and security features to help ensure your company’s data is protected.
So basically, Office 365 and Windows combined delivering all the cool stuff to you to make sure your company data is safe across your devices.
